The Day You Got Sick

It was July 20, 2012, about five days or so before this you weren't feeling well so I called 911, and they transported you to Marian Hospital, and I was not able to go down with you in the ambulance, and I was so worried on how you were going to get back home since we don't have a car and we lived so far, and if they would of kept you how was I to get there? Then after you left about two hours later you called and said that you were done and ready to come home so I called some people that we knew and they went to go pick you up and bring you home. I was appreciated of this cause no one else would of done this for us. When you got home I asked what happened and you said that they just gave you a RX of Vicodin, and that was it. I remember telling you that they should of checked you out to see what was wrong. You said you were feeling better but I didn't believe you. The next few days you were back to normal doing all the things you normally would do. Then I seen you take off to the store with your dog Bruno and when you got back you came in and laid down, not saying much. I asked you if you were ok and you said you would be alright. I felt that something was not right but when I would ask you again, you got upset for me asking and said " I already told you Im fine" so I didn't ask again. That night you yelled out for me and I came running and you said you had to go to the restroom and I said ok go, but you didn't move and when I tried to help you up you didn't even try to get up. You told me it was ok to go back to bed, so I did and a few minutes later I heard a bang and came running and found you on the floor, you had fell down and hit your head, I told you I was calling 911 and, like always got upset and said NO, if they come your the one going not me! Then from one minute to the next you stopped talking, your neck got crooked, and you had a bowel movement all over yourself. I called 911 and the ambulance came and when they arrived they asked "whats wrong now Mr. Blount" as if they were tired of coming out to our home. You were unable to talk and I told them what happened and they took you by helicopter to Cottage Hospital, once again I was not able to go with you and I was so upset, now I had to find a ride. I called hospital and was told that you were being admitted to ICU, for two fatal disease's I could not believe it, I then tried getting someone to give me a ride but no one would I called your daughter Tasia and told her and she was on her way from Arizona. She arrived there the next day I called hospital day and night till I was able to get there which took three days. When I did arrive your family, Bessie, Crystal, Jerry, Andy his wife, your daughter Tasia, Samuel and Me and Liz were all there and doctor was waiting on me to arrive so he could talk to all of us. The doctor , Chaplin and two social workers were present and he explained what was going on. I was so upset and didn't want to hear it, when he said he didn't feel you were going to make it I lost it! I asked him, "is there any possible way that he could come out of this and survive?" he said, "anything is possible" I said "then that is what I am holding on too" and I needed to go and be by your side. I stayed with you the whole two months you were there by your side and seen you get better you proved them wrong and they were so surprised they had wanted you to have comfort care, and I would say NO, were going Aggressive care, he is going to fight this. They really did not want this but said ok. I seen you fight and improved and you were even transferred to the rehab hospital, the doctor there told you that you were going to make it cause they don't send anyone who isnt. You were there for three days and you started having alot of pain in your neck, they took test found liquid and so they transferred you back to main hospital. You went through so much and then on August 29, they found a nursing home that accepted you and were going to transfer you but at the last minute they denied you so social worker found another home and you were to be transferred on Saturday Sept. 1st I would not be able to stay there with you so you told me to go home and get your check so I could have money to get a room near by so I could be there with you. I didn't want to leave you but you said yes go and come back quick. My sisters came on Thursday August 30th to give me a ride home, when they got there they stayed and visited a few hours then we had to go, I did not want to leave you especially knowing that you could not move your arms or legs and this worried me. I asked Pallative Care to have volunteer's sit with you until I came back they agreed. I called hospital when I got home and they said you were fine, sleeping. The next morning I called once again spoke to nurse and she said you were feeling better and doing well, I asked her to tell you I would be there as soon as I got a ride and that I Love you she said she would. Around 5pm I receive a call from Student doctor the one I did not agree with whom I had not seen for two weeks, she tells me that your white blood count was high and your body was deteriorating and did not expect you to make it through the night. To notify family. I was shocked, and said "what do you mean? he was fine when I left him and fine this morning now your sayig this? how can this be?" I hung up and was looking for ride once again!!
